About Me

I was born and grew up in a small city called Jhenaidah, located in southern part of Bangladesh. There are few links at the end of this page to cheer up your knowledge about the Bangladesh, if you want to. In my childhood, I spent a considerable amount of time with nature, very close to plants and animals. I was always stolen by the 'Mother Nature'.....even today. In my early childhood, one day my mom could not locate me for a while. She was horrified, looking every possible places that I could reach. Didnt find. She was crying, suspecting that I could be drawn in the nearby wetlands. After a while, one of our relatives discovered me little far away from our house, watching a 'kingfisher nest'.  Now, in my grown up age, I can realize why I was so fascinated by nature.......actually, I was born as a 'Nature Lover'.

When time came up to pick my career options, I was discussing this with my dad, asking him some suggestions. He was so reluctant and careless, and said 'whatever you like'. Possibly, he knew my ultimate destination. BIOLOGY. He cant stop me doing that and that was the reason, probably, he was so reluctant. He is my hero and model for ever. He never forced me to do things, rather taught me: this will happen if you do this, and this will happen if you do not do this. I believe this is the best way to teach your beloved little ones. He taught me to respect humans, regardless the person's age, race, religion, sex, or personal belongings.

I love humans so as all other living creatures. Probably, as like as my own life. Therefore, my life would be successful if I can do anything that would help making the world a better to live for all living beings. Other than these life philosophy, I have a very affectionate relationship with my family. My father is a lawyer and mom is a housewife, they live in my hometown Jhenaidah in Bangladesh. Before leaving the country, I used to live in Dhaka with my elder sister who has two daughter: Bristy and Misty. Most people says I love the little girl more than the elder, who had to go to hospital to compensate my absence for about six months when I was visiting the USA in 2004. My younger sister, Lia, goes to Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh for her Masters degree in Archeology.

I got married to a beautiful young lady, Runa, in the summer of 2007. She graduated from the same school I am from, Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. She joined me in Texas right after we got married for two months. Now, she is attending Texas Tech University for her Masters in Software Engineering. You can find both of us at Facebook, if you want to.

Hobby-Lobby

I love to do new things. Well, what is new to me? Every human being. I try to learn them whenever possible. I love visiting exotic places, meet local people and their culture. Love photography, specially shooting animals. I like hiking, backpacking, swimming, cycling, fishing, and so many other things in outdoors. Lyric-based classical and country music is best for me, even though I love to explore all sorts. One of our traditional country music 'Baul Gaan' fascinates me. As such Fakir Lalon Shah is my musical and philosophical guru.

I love cooking, specially our traditional food but like to explore other avenues as well. I love watching cricket, a game that is very popular in our area. Documentary films on wildlife, nature, ethnic people, world history, archeology, etc attract me. Writing popular articles is one of my best favorite hobbies. Whenever I am doing nothing, you can catch me on the net somewhere.......ha haa haaa, yes I am a net-bugger. Finally, I love spending time with my little caring family but cant afford much time since they are living on the other side of the world.

I established a club called 'Nature Study and Conservation Club' with my students of Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh in 2003. The club members perform wide range of voluntary activities mostly for nature and natural resources conservation and awareness in and outside of the university campus. We have an objective to establish 'Biodiversity Sanctuary' in all state-owned educational institutions in Bangladesh. I am associated with the Wildlife Rescue Center at Jahangirnagar University in Bangladesh which is first of its kind in the country.

I am also associated with the Asian Scholarship Program for in-situ Chelonian Conservation (
ASPin-situCC). As an awardee of the ASPin-situCC 2004 Program, I attended the ten week Terrapin Recovery Project at the Wetlands Institute, NJ, one week with Dr. Peter Pritchard at the Chelonian Research Institute, FL, worked with Mr. Tom Mohrman at the University of Southern Mississippi, MS and attended the 2005 Turtle Survival Alliance annual meetings at San Diego, CA. This program brings me to the USA for the first time in 2004 and provided me the opportunity to visit more than 10 States in the USA including the Gulf of Mexico, a 'must go' for the explorers.

With a class I took to conduct research on the variation in Soldier Crab (Coenobita clypeatus) population density and size as a function of elevation and vegetation type in the Guana Island, I visited the British Virgin Islands and believe is 'the heaven' on earth and suggest nature lovers to be there if possible.

I occasionally also work as a volunteer at the Texas Tech University Museum's Natural Science Research Laboratory.
